Count Your "Mini" Blessings

So... Little Man is finally sleeping through the night (I am not sure who decided 4-6 hours was "through the night" but I'll take what I can get). I am sad to say that I was not able to enjoy the uninterrupted sleep as I should have because that little annoying voice inside my head kept waking me up to check on the baby that had been quiet for too long. Now that I want him to sleep "through the night", he of course will not oblige; he opts instead for "through the night" naps. As annoyed as I was to marry a morning person, I am finding that the night-owl-baby I had hoped would keep me company in the wee hours is much more of a die hard than I am.

Three Months And Counting!

Little Man will be three months old on Friday and so many things have changed in the last month that it is hard to keep track! Just recently he started making REAL eye contact and tracking objects as they move. Of all the sports objects on Nana's mobile, he really loves watching the soccer ball go 'round and 'round (dad thinks it is an indication of his desire to play soccer and I think it because it is black and white). He is holding his head up steadily, rolling over regularly (without help), and smiling when Nana sings or talks to him (although he holds out on mommy). What a fun month this has been!

Future Fireman

You can't tell from the picture but Little Man is wearing a "Future Fireman" shirt in honor of his daddy. Daddy has his national paramedic exam in a week and three days and has been "head down" studying for quite some time. Little Man and I decided to encourage daddy and give him a break by suprising him with some photos to let him know we support him - You can do it daddy!

Cleared For Takeoff

We just got back from Little Man's doctor visit. Thus far, Little Man has been scoring consistently on track for his adjusted age, which would make him appear to be 1.5 months old. For the first time he is finally on track for his actual age, 3 months! Weighing in at 10 lbs 7 oz and 23 inches long he is in the 25th percentile for height and weight and the 50th percentile for head circumference. He was on track developmentally in every area for his actual age and is AHEAD in two areas: rolling over and head control! Little Man has had his immunizations and is cleared to go to Little Acorns. Mommy is headed back to work :( .

Pint-sized Guard Dog

When we first found out we were going to have little Little Man, there was a lot of talk (and concern) about how our "first" child, 3-year old chihuahua "Daisy",would handle the new sibling. Just to be on the safe side, Daisy spent the first 4 weeks of Little Man's life at Nana's house getting lots of love and attention while mommy and daddy adjusted to life with Little Man. Now that Daisy is back in her rightful seat as first child, she has become quite protective of her "little brother". At any given time she can be found sleeping near him, guarding his crib or chasing after someone who gave him a tummy raspberry or picked him up too quickly. Daisy has been known to wake either of us with not-so-gentle shoves in the middle of the night if Little Man gets too fussy and is never more than a few steps away from her little guy.

Not Camera Shy

Little Man's 3 month photos have finally been posted for viewing. Thanks to our friend Hollie, we have discovered an amazing in-home photographer. KM is a very talented photographer and we are really excited to work with her as she captures Little Man growing over the years.

Pout Master

Now that Little Man is more aware of his surroundings, he has begun experimenting with new ways of expressing himself, mainly pouting. The degree to which he juts out that cute little lip depends on the the seriousness of the issue at hand. The picture you see to the right is only in response to a minor issue (Nana was holding his pacifier so she could see his face) you should see the length on that lip when he means business!

I Wanna Be A Painker

When I was a little girl I used to watch my daddy paint houses and announced one day that I wanted to be a "painker" just like my daddy. Yesterday daddy spent the afternoon painting the guest bedroom in preparation for Mimi's visit next month and I was trying to get some work done but a very fussy baby (we won't name names) was making it really difficult. Exasperated, I put him in his bouncy chair to watch daddy so that I could get some work done and to our amazement Little Man sat very still and quiet for two hours watching his daddy's every move (don't worry, we used latex). Guess he wants to be a "painker" too!

Look How Much I've Grown!

Little Man has almost doubled in weight since his birthday 2 and a half months ago. Weighing in at 10 lbs he is quite a chunk, double chins and all. Just looking at how big his head would have been had he carried to full term I am suddenly very thankful that I had a c-section! Thank you for all of your sweet emails and prayers for his health and growth; they mean more to us than you will ever know.

A Walking Billboard

Little Man is finally fitting into 0-3 month outfits and mommy spent way too much money buying lots of cute outfits. We are so excited because he can now fit into all of the cute onesies that were painted at his shower. One of our personal favorites is the one he is wearing in this picture, courtesy of Matt. Doesn't he look relaxed? He loves to stretch.
