Sugar Pills And Magic Kisses

Little Man has had an upset tummy and a low-grade fever for a few days now and it has been such a challenge comforting someone who can't communicate. After trying seemingly everything under the sun, we finally found a position that worked to soothe his aching tummy better than mommy's kisses and snuggles. As I reflect back on this week and the frustration I felt at not being able to take away his discomfort, I not only appreciate my parents in a new way, I have a new appreciation for God as my Heavenly Father. What an amazing realization to experience parental love and understand the love that God had for His Son and that He willingly GAVE that son to be offered as a sacrifice for us. I praise God for the way that He uses my son to draw me closer to Him and pray that He will continue to reveal truth in the journey of parenthood.

Rollin' Like A Log

Nana and I have been working with Little Man during his tummy time, teaching him the steps he needs to know to roll over. Most of the time he gets very frustrated and grunts and groans throughout the whole process but two nights ago when Nana put him on his tummy he kicked his back legs up and rolled himself back over. Shocked, she called everyone into the room and, because no one believed her, she promptly put him back on his tummy and he rolled right back over! Several performances later he is rollin’ like a log! He's been rolling over so much that he fell asleep "in position". What a big boy!

Blessed Beyond Measure

I realize every day that I am blessed beyond measure. Being able to work from home while my little one grows stronger is such a tremendous blessing. This week Little Man has had a lot of congestion and therefore has been very fussy, normally a very stressful thing. Thankfully I am able to take care of my baby boy and give him all the hugs and snuggles he needs and not miss a beat at work. It doesn't get any better than that! Little Man loves it too - click on the picture and look at his sweet little face.

Bathtime Is Fun

Now that Little Man is awake and alert more often, even the simple things are becoming a lot of fun. My personal favorite activity with Little Man is bathtime. I have come to believe that baths have a magical power over my son because regardless of the situation or the mood a bath can convert him into a very happy, almost giddy, baby instantly. He is still using his preemie bathtub but it looks like he will outgrow it and move to a regular baby tub sometime this month (hopefully). Little Man will be two months old on Friday.

Hanging Out With Mommy

I love being able to work at home and am so blessed that the church is allowing me to do so since he isn't able to go to the MDO program yet. Little Man usually sleeps propped up in his "boppy" next to me while I work but this morning he was just looking around and smacking his gums, happy as can be so I added the link-a-doo canopy to the boppy for the first time. He had a blast hitting and tugging on the link-a-doos and even following the swinging motion of the chains; we caught this adorable picture of him mid-smile. What a great morning!

6 Weeks Old

Little Man had his second pediatrician visit today and it went really well and he is officially 7lbs 6oz and 21 inches long. Little Man will be six weeks old on Friday and the pediatrician says that he is charting like a term baby in all areas and that by four or five months he should be completely caught up with no traces of his days as a preemie. Little Man has been awake more and more lately and has started making eye contact, lifting up his head and holding in his pacifier on his own. Little Man has his first professional photo session scheduled tomorrow morning and we will post the link to the proofs as soon as we have it. Thanks for checking in on our little guy!
